Wood Working Weekend

Randy and Pa Steele built our medicine cabinet this weekend and we hung it tonight. It's the perfect size for the space. We just need knobs and some fun paint on the inside and around the edges (idea below). We also came home with a shower stool. While I'm not sure either of us has actually sat on it yet; I can attest to its foot propping capabilities.

Backsplash Complete!

The kitchen backsplash is finished, yeah! As soon as the wallpaper is installed we will be finished in here (from the contractor's   perspective). Randy and I will hang the remaining light fixtures (to be purchased) and the bifold doors in the laundry.

Idea for the flush mount kitchen lights:

Idea for pendants in front of window over the bar:

Finally, idea for the flush mount fixture in the 'mudroom' entry where the back door, laundry and garage doors meet:

Curtains 2.0

We didn't do much tonight but did get up the second set of curtains. Here is a pic with the curtains closed.

I'm thinking a round table with a graphic animal print cloth in neutral tones like the sink skirt we had in Denver and lamp in the corner...I need a live plant somewhere too...here are some inspiration shots:

These are more styling/placement inspiration than actual items...the last two pics are pretty formal/stuffy...

Finishing Touches

The City of WP picked up our yard debris today, yeah! We haven't had a chance to patch the fence yet. We hung two bathroom mirrors tonight (temporary mirrors) and hung the curtains in the sunroom (they need to be ironed). They make the room look so much taller (they are only 8 feet). Here are also some pics of our ToTo remote mount,  fully assembled Pa Steele Vanity Special and towel hooks!

Yesterday was the Suck...

But today is a bit better.

We came home to this:

And this:

Apparently a huge tree fell in the street. They chopped it up and put it in our yard until someone can come get it. No damage to the house, but a little bit of damage to the fence. The second set of pictures tries to capture our leaking sunroom in its full glory. That is a stream of water coming through a screw hole and splashing on the floor; it also comes in a bit through the paneling under the window.  Apparently a lot of the siding needs to be replaced, the window needs to be replaced and we have no flashing (no idea what that is).

Moving on to today...Randy has installed 3 fans; woot!!!

Our original plan for fans in the sunroom didn't work because they hung too low, our ceilings are kind of short. The other one is in the master bedroom...Randy is in heaven.  Also, we have another bed...with sheets!

And a floor heater in the master bath:

We are Officially Nesting

The nest has been installed...now I have to paint around it. They have also started replacing rotted wood inside and outside of the sunroom.

Update Quickie

There are finishing touches going up around the house; new vent covers, closets and the backsplash tile are all in various states of completion. The backsplash will go to the ceiling above the sink.
