Sunday Funday

We picked up today where we left off yesterday. I finished pulling up the tacking in both bedrooms:

We also started demo in the kitchen. Looks like there used to be some pretty sweet wallpaper and cute yellow original cabinets that were eventually covered in laminate like EVERYTHING else in here:

More nastiness:

Randy and Ankeet replaced a broken wheel on the garage door and Randy started painting the trim. I gave about half of the garage a second coat:

Busy Day!

We were up early this morning because Randy and Ankeet ran the Winter Park 10k which came right by our house! The pic I got of Cooter was pretty poor:

After the race we headed to Garvin to get our work on. We burned some refuse, used a bit of liquid nails and caulk and then Randy tackled the old shingles on the back of the garage while Ankeet manned the paint sprayer:

Meanwhile I finished pressure washing the screened porch and brick and then headed inside to work in the floors and finish knocking down ceilings. I'm prying up the carpet tacking strips so that the floors can be refinished. I think they will look nice:

I also removed the linoleum in the laundry/pantry. I LOVE the old porch boards; looks like the exterior is thin slats under all of the siding; I wish it was exposed!:

Some nastiness:

This is the view from the kitchen. I think the MDF is where the old back steps were. We will probably run a different flooring wall to wall in that space the same width as the washer/dryer (stacked) that will be immediately to the right when you walk through this door.  There is some seriously ugly layered linoleum in the kitchen:

Here is a close up of what is under the linoleum in the potential second bathroom, love again:

I'm so pumped that there is so much wood! Finally, the garage after it's first coat;

So the idea is that the tan part of the porch at the bottom will be the same blue with all of the trim staying white and then the red flashing on the main house being blue too. The whole inside of the porch will stay white.  I wish the color was closer to a midnight blue, but it will do.

We finished up the day by starting to take down kitchen stuff so hopefully we will finish that up tomorrow.

Raise the Roof

We decided to go forward with replacing the roof, easy enough, until the roof comes off, they tell you it is rotten in certain places and that it's 1 x 6 and not plywood ($$$). Here are some during pics:

Here is the after:

Bulletin Board

Tiny update to our house, I needed a place to pin stuff up so this is what I came up with:

I may move the calendar to the bulletin board to free up some wall space.

Cleaner and Cuter

The Parents Steele were down this weekend and we made a lot of progress! Friday the rest of the backyard planting was completed:

We also did a ton of power washing, it's hard to see in the pics but it's pretty noticeable in real life:

In the pic above and below the left side is clean and the right side is dirty.

We also pressure washed the garage and replaced a lot of rotten wood on the screened porch:

Below is Randy's piece de resistance for the weekend, a replica fin on the right side of the garage to match the existing one on the left:

We also replaced a lot of rotten wood on the screened porch:

We have a little bit more caulking and sanding to do, hopefully Friday, before we start painting next weekend. We would like to paint all of the burnt red trim navy blue but leave the body of the house cream. This is the closest thing I could find to give an idea:

We are going to do the opposite to the screened porch and garage; navy body with cream trim; probably cream interior for the porch:

I'll be busy next week getting quotes for interior work. We may also move forward with a new roof.
