Lazy Sunday

With the return of the bosslady (Hi Wife!) there was a sense of foreboding.  Maybe it was the gloomy clouds, showing signs of a coming rain.  Neither of us was terribly eager this morning.  With two of us back at it though, the to-do list was sure to get a full assault.

...or not.

Hey, we'll call it a semi off day.  Everyone deserves one every once in a while right.  ...especially AFTER A TRIP TO A RESORT IN CALIFORNIA!  Sheesh.  Seriously though, it was a work trip, so it's not like she spent time at DisneyLand or anything.

What?!  I've been told that she went to DisneyLand.

Well, that's behind me and I can focus on what we actually got done today, and we did actually do some stuff.  We painted the aluminum of a couple windows to white.  The outsides of those same windows would've been painted had it not rained (honest!).

It's pretty hard to take a picture of that, but here's the best we could do:
Figure 1.  You're probably just going to have to trust me, but the slats are white, ok?

While that was going on a second (2nd?, IIth?)  coat was put on the plywood ceiling of the porch.  During this I was quite successful at getting good, solid drips on the brick floor.  Luckily, the boss was not there to witness, so don't tell her and I'll be in the clear.

Figure 2.  Pure excitement

Having written that last paragraph and then posted the picture, I can only imagine how bored at work you must be to actually still be reading.  Just imagine how much more you could've gotten done had you not read this post.  It's not like anything really happened.  We just slogged some white paint in a few places.

...AND WE PUT TOGETHER ONE OF THE VANITIES!  (mostly).  I'm pretty impressed with this.  It's pretty cool to actually build something from raw materials to finished product (almost).  Yeah, so it's not done, technically, but that's only because we forgot to cut a small support for the front.  Other than that, it's totally ready to be put in place so that someone can brush their teeth and stuff.  ...after we put on that support, put on the countertop, install a sink, faucet, plumb it all up, install hardware.  AWW CRAP!  It seemed like we were so close!

Figure 3.  Le piece du resistance!

That looks like a a real vanity!  How's about that, huh?!  I think that you'd be pretty pumped up, too if you'da done it.  It's even (mostly) square and (almost) completely plumb!  The big vanity we've decided to leave in pieces until the bathroom is in a better position to receive it.  So, maybe next weekend...  if the hired guns are able to make a return appearance and not out a few of the required steps beforehand.
